My goal is to build great lacrosse players, but more importantly, great teammates. Let's have a fantastic season!— Coach DJ
The full story

With decades of deep roots in the North Carolina lacrosse community, Coach brings a wealth of knowledge, a proven track record of building successful programs, and a contagious passion for the game.

DJ's lacrosse journey is defined by growth and a commitment to growing the sport from the ground up. He literally helped build the game in the region by starting the inaugural lacrosse team at Ragsdale High School, then continued his playing career at the collegiate club level for Appalachian State. As one of the longest-tenured head coaches in the Metro Lacrosse Conference, he took over a struggling Southeast High School program and transformed it into a powerhouse — leading them to three playoff berths and securing the school's first home playoff victory since 2009. He has also grown a local recreational youth program from just 30 participants to over 100 active players.

DJ is a firm believer in the traditional Native American philosophy of lacrosse — often referred to as 'The Creator's Game.' His approach to coaching youth can be summed up in three simple rules: play fast, play free, and have fun. Rather than bogging young players down with rigid, over-complicated systems, he focuses on building strong fundamentals, fostering creativity, and ensuring every child leaves the field with a smile and a deeper love for the game.

When he isn't on the sidelines, DJ loves spending time with his wife and their two rambunctious young boys — who are already gearing up to grab their sticks and start their own lacrosse careers.
