What's happening this week.
The undefeated Buffalos are undefeated no more, and that might be the fourth-biggest story of the night. The Braveheart delivered a golden goal for the ages. A goalie sprinted the full length of the field to make a diving save on another goalie, a play already being called the play of the year, not even close. Three kids scored their first career goals. A set of twins joined the league on opposite teams, on the same night. A Bear played every minute in the cage so his team could have a game at all. And through it all, the league's biggest star stood on the sideline on a broken ankle, cheering for his boys. Tonight has everything. At 6:30, before the regular slate even starts, the Bears and Eagles settle the first tie in league history with a sudden-death Braveheart faceoff: one draw, next goal wins. Then six games across three fields, headlined by the Clemmons Bowl, twin brothers meeting on opposite sidelines for the first time, while Noah Parker and Beckett Scoggins duel for the MVP lead from two different fields, separated by a single point. Chip and Chirp needed two weeks off to recover, and The Drew repaid the wait with the wildest night of the season. The White Wolves howled their way to a first win, the Bears and Eagles played to the first tie in league history (to be settled next Wednesday, 6:30 PM, sudden death, bring chairs), a brand new Bears goalie made 21 saves, Wylie Paylor scored nine goals exactly as a certain co-columnist predicted in print, one coach benched the entire concept of goaltending, and Noah Parker blew a kiss that angered the ancient gods of lacrosse.
