The full story

Matt Manning grew up playing lacrosse from elementary school through college and beyond, helping launch a varsity high school program at Woodson High School in the Washington, DC area before earning DC Metro All-South honors as a defenseman. He later played collegiate club lacrosse at William and Mary and then VCU, where he received the team's Best Defenseman and Leadership Awards, and continued competing for many years in club, men's league, and local box lacrosse — winning multiple local box championships alongside his high school teammates and friends.

Professionally, Matt is a radiation oncologist and healthcare leader in Greensboro, North Carolina, with a passion for mentorship, teamwork, and organizational culture. He currently serves as an assistant coach for the Greensboro Day School varsity boys lacrosse program, helping guide the Bengals to multiple state championship appearances and titles.

As General Manager of the youth league, Matt is excited to help grow the game at the grassroots level by creating a positive, competitive, and development-focused experience for young athletes and families. He believes youth sports teach lifelong lessons in leadership, resilience, accountability, and friendship that extend far beyond the field.
